Quick answer: Match the platen size to your load footprint, make sure the gripper works with your slip sheet lip, and confirm your forklift has the capacity and hydraulics to run it.
What a push pull does
A push pull, also called a slip sheet attachment, grips the lip of a slip sheet, pulls the load onto its platens and pushes it off at the destination. Switching from pallets to slip sheets saves pallet cost and fits more product in each trailer or container.
What to look at when choosing a push pull
| What to check | Why it matters |
|---|---|
| Platen size | The platens must support your load footprint. Long or wide loads need larger platens. |
| Slip sheet lip | The gripper must grab your slip sheet lip reliably. Check the lip size and sheet material. |
| Load weight | The push pull must be rated for your loads, and your forklift must carry them with the attachment. |
| Push face extension | The push face has to reach far enough to push loads fully off the platens. |
| Hydraulic functions | Push pulls need auxiliary hydraulics for the push and grip functions. |
Common push pull applications
- Export and import containers. Fitting more product with no pallets.
- Beverage and food producers. High-volume slip-sheeted loads.
- Paper and packaging. Pallet-free shipping to customers.
Check your forklift first
- Hydraulics. Most push pulls need one or more auxiliary hydraulic functions on the forklift.
- Carriage class. The attachment must match your forklift’s carriage class and mounting.
- Capacity. Every attachment reduces the forklift’s usable capacity, and the truck’s capacity plate should reflect the attachment. Your forklift dealer can confirm this.

Rent first, then decide
If you are still deciding on size or style, rent one and test it on your own loads. Our rent vs. buy guide explains when renting makes more sense than buying. Forklift dealers can rent at dealer pricing through the AttachCo Dealer Rental Program.
